From Day ...
Layering up in the cold winter's frost is crucial and, when wearing such an elegant dress like this one, I think it is equally important to choose the right layers. For this look, it meant that a fitted overcoat would perfectly complement the wrap dress. The coat, from M&S, is new to my wardrobe this year and, as I'm always a sucker for sophisticated Winter coats, it's barely off my back (and, as an added bonus, it's super soft).
With this, I went for a neutral scarf, a bobble hat that's been keeping my ears safe from frost for a few years now, and THE New Look boots that just about everyone has or wants. The boots themselves are super comfy and will definitely be worth the small dollar as soon as the snow starts to come down.
... To Night
Moving through to the night, whether on the same day or not, it always going to require a little bit more of a glow up. From drinks with friends, a dinner party, or even the actual Christmas Day (!!), it could mean adding accessories, makeup, heeled shoes, or all of the above. This is what I did here.
My makeup stepped up a little bit; adding a darker-nude lip and red/burgundy eyeshadow tones to match with the dress (careful, don't go too heavy with matching colours). What's hiding beneath my hooded eyes is the glittering eye pigment, which I would consider only mandatory for a Christmas party look, by the way.
For accessorising, I repped a fair amount of Oasis here. I've always loved the idea of earrings but, as something that has baffled many others before, I don't have my ears pierced and just don't want to. Lovisa's clip-on adaptors gave me a new lease of life, though, so I was delighted to be able to wear these beautiful heart-shaped ones from Oasis (even despite the numb ear lobes - the clip-ons look good but OUCH). As well as this, I added my trusty, simple H&M gold rings and a Pearl Hairclip.
With the addition of 3 simple things: glam makeup, jewellery, and hair accessories, this dress quickly flashes from a day to night look just like that.
Which festive look will you be choosing this year?
Living in the city centre means that anytime you want to go shopping, you have to face the crowds. In Newcastle, though, we're lucky enough to have amazing places like Silverlink Shopping Park where you can shop without the hustle and bustle. With shops such as New Look, Outfit, Wilko, Boots, JD, River Island, H&M. a huuuge M&S Food Hall and more, there's everything you need to have a perfectly indulgent shopping spree.
This month, I was lucky enough to be invited down to Silverlink to treat myself to a few new wardrobe pieces but Jamie and I actually decided to make a day of it, also enjoying a little date night as an early celebration of his birthday. I went home feeling very full of Frankie & Benny's food, entertained by a film at the Cinema, and definitely excited about my new purchases. Here's what I tried and bought...
Firstly, these are the two items that I tried in New Look but didn't quite make the cut. This square neck, peplum blue top was so pretty on me and I really didn't want to leave it behind but I wanted to keep things budget friendly. I can't guarantee that I won't be going back to New Look for this though, it's just so perfect for summer.
I also decided to feed my midi-skirt obsession by trying some on; unfortunately, this black one didn't seem too flattering on me and didn't fit me as I would have wished, I did love the black and white polka dot pattern, though, and thought it would be so easy to style.
Also quietly featured in these pictures is a white t-shirt with frilled hems. This was a cute item that, again didn't make the shopping bag but something that I would still consider going back for. It was plain and simple but the frills added that finer detail.
These are the two pieces that I did end up taking home with me. First is the amazing black denim utility dress which I have already worn to a festival and adored. It's totally something that I wouldn't usually add to my wardrobe but I'm pleased to say that I'm patting myself on the back for taking the plunge. I can really see this as a perfect day-to-night dress and could even look cute with tights and boots in the colder months.
Lastly, from New Look, I kept my midi-fangirl at bay by purchasing this beautiful leopard print wrap skirt. It's a gorgeous combination of this season's print and midi trends and the femininity of this mid-length really helps soften the boldness of the leopard print. Again, this skirt has already been worn out and I can confirm that it's super easy to style, super comfy, and definitely makes me feel on trend.
One thing that isn't pictured here is the snake print belt that I took home with me too. I've been looking for a statement belt for a while and I love that New Look has great quality and stylish belts on offer. The belt will be being paired with my more simple, chic outfits as a statement and maybe even with the denim dress to switch things up.
After grabbing those pieces in New Look, I hopped a few doors down to Outfit where I managed to get a brilliant bargain in the Topshop sale. After looking around all the different stands in the store, from Miss Selfridge to Dorothy Perkins, I only actually tried on one item because I'd already pretty much fallen in love with it. It's this mixed floral print blouse with a double tie-up front and puffed sleeves. It's so girly but also totally different, with all of the unique patterns and styles. I can probably see myself pairing this with jeans and nude heels for a day out with my girlfriends.

There's so much at Silverlink that you can actually make a bit of an afternoon of it, whether it's with family or on a little date. I'm really grateful for the opportunity to visit and grab some new summer pieces and I can't wait to spend my entire summer spinning around in my new midi-skirt.

ORANGE KNIT JUMPER - ASOS
These wide-leg trousers are something that I would definitely never choose but I've actually warmed to them. They're a swaying, lightweight material that will be perfect to wear in the Autumn months. I paired it with this orange, statement jumper to add a real vibracy - on the whole, this outfit was totally comfortable to wear and definitely would be great to wear to Uni when looking for something casual, warm, and stylish.
The collection of loungewear tracksuits on the Femme Luxe website is amazing! There are so many different styles and colours to choose from but I definitely couldn't resist a pink one. I'm a sucker for loungewear and I love the idea of stepping into this tracksuit on days where I'm working at home or when all I need to do is pop to the shop. This particular one is a bit more of a crepe material rather than a jersey material which I think makes it more of an outfit that just pjs. And, of course, the rainbow detail is adorable! I think it adds such a cute touch to this outfit - I'm definitely never going to be out of those joggers especially.

Part of Uni life will involve formal situations which I think these black, cuffed trousers can definitely cater to. However, paired with a crop top, they would just as well double up as a party piece. They're very lightweight and thin making them comfortable and easy to move around in. They did originally come with a chain link to be added how you wish but I think I'd be more inclined to add that in a party context rather than this 'formal' style. The cuff around the ankle also fitted really nicely and wasn't too tight or restricitng.
Again, I love the super cute and unique rainbow detail on this two-piece. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this one for tall people though - the legs ended up being short on me which meant I did have to save it by rolling them up a little - although, this did end up looking OK. The trousers of this set did feel a little low waisted too and, for someone with wide hips and a smaller waist, I can often feel really uncomfortable in anything that doesn't sit high on me. Nevertheless, I think the little rainbow crop top will be perfect for a night-out, even paired with any two of my Femme Luxe black trousers.

Altogether, I'm so excited to wear these items in my new chapter through Uni. The pink tracksuit will definitely be something that I'm reaching for on days when I know I want to stay warm and cosy sat at my desk but still want to look and feel good. The wide leg trousers are something I never thought I'd like but, if I can be inspired a little more on what to pair with them, I think they'll definitely grow on me even more. They're just so ideal for a comfortable and stylish piece to attend Uni in. And of course, the cuffed black trousers are something I feel I can never go wrong with. They do require a little bit of adjustment around the waist to fit my particular size, but I think they're such a versatile piece that I can really experiment with.
